Welcome to the 2020 HBVC Virtual Conference Information and Registration page!  This year we are teaming up with VETgirl to bring you four 2-hour webinars on September 21, 22, 28, and 29.  You can choose to attend one, two or all of the webinars.  All lecture hours have been RACE approved for up to 8 hours of CE!
1 webinar is $35.00
2 webinars are $65.00
4 webinars are $100
HBVC and VETgirl members receive 20% off.  HBVC student members receive 50% off.

Speaker:  Dr. Jamie Ellis, PhD, Professor of Entomology, University of Florida

Lecture:  What is Killing Honey Bees and Resources on Honey Bees and Beekeeping
Join Dr. Ellis as he critically reviews the loss rates of managed honey bee colonies and learn what the primary stressors are that are impacting honey bee colony health.  In the second hour, Dr. Ellis will share his top resources that address how to deal with the primary stressors.  Veterinarians will leave the talk armed with tools and knowledge of where to get the answers when they are faced with these stressors in the field.

Speaker:  Dr. Samuel Ramsey, PhD, Research Fellow with the United States Department of Agriculture's Bee Research Laboratory

Lecture:   Adapting to the Global Ecosystem:  Evaluating Threats to Apiculture from Outside our Borders and Up Close and Personal:  Understanding the Tropilaelaps Mite
Hearing a lot about Asian Giant Hornets?  Worried about what other non-native threats might be in our future?  Ever heard about the mite that could be worse than Varroa?  Join Dr. Ramsey as he sheds light on the current situation, provides the most up-to-date research, and helps veterinarians prepare to identify and address these threats to our honey  bees.

Speaker:  Dr. Katie Lee, PhD, Extension Educator in Apiculture

Lecture:  Varroa mite biology and management
Varroa destructor remains the most detrimental pest to honey bee colonies, and a priority for veterinarians to understand.  Dr. Lee will discuss mite biology and the latest in Varroa research.  During this talk veterinarians will learn effective and sustainable management practices, and critical steps that need to be taken to prevent or reduce mite damage.

Speaker:  Dr. Jennifer Tsuruda, PhD, Assistant Professor, University of Tennessee, Knoxville

Lecture:  Honey bee foraging and nutrition - biology, research, and application
Ever wonder where honey bees go and if they are after more than just sugar?  Join Dr. Tsuruda to learn the biological basis of foraging behavior and the nutritional needs of honey bees.  Veterinarians will also learn how to apply this information to managed beekeeping practices.
